Dr. Haidar provides medicolegal consulting services including confidential case screening and merit review of medical records, written expert reports addressing standard of care and causation, and deposition and trial testimony. He is available for record review engagements billed hourly, with expedited turnaround available for time-sensitive matters. His areas of case review include transplant-related infections, donor-derived infection transmission, CAR-T and cellular therapy complications, invasive fungal and mold infections, hospital-acquired and antimicrobial-resistant infections, sepsis, and infection-related complications in immunocompromised or oncology patients. He is willing to work with both plaintiff and defense counsel. Dr. Haidar is available to consult on cases throughout the United States, in any state. International engagements may be considered upon request.

Qualifications:
Dr. Haidar is a board-certified Infectious Diseases physician (ABIM) and Transplant Infectious Diseases fellowship-trained specialist, currently Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He serves as Director of Research for Bone Marrow Transplant and Hematological Malignancy Infectious Diseases and as Medical Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases' Translational Research Unit at UPMC, and previously served as Program Director of the Transplant ID Fellowship (2019–2025). His clinical and research focus spans infections in solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients, CAR-T cell therapy, and other immunocompromised and immunodeficient populations, including donor-derived infection, multidrug-resistant organisms, invasive fungal disease, CMV and other viral reactivation, and neutropenic fever. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, including in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, The Lancet Infectious Diseases, and Clinical Infectious Diseases. He holds active NIH grant funding as a K23 (NIAID) principal investigator, serves as co-investigator on multiple NIH-funded multicenter U01 trials, and has served as principal investigator or co-principal investigator on numerous industry-sponsored clinical trials. He has been an invited speaker at national and international meetings including the American Transplant Congress, IDWeek, the American Society of Hematology, and ESCMID/ECCMID, and has previously served on the editorial boards of Open Forum Infectious Diseases, Transplant Infectious Diseases, and the Journal of Medical Virology. He has also served on scientific advisory boards for Karius, AstraZeneca, SNIPbiome, Sanofi, and others.

Experience:
Since 2017, Dr. Haidar has practiced as an attending physician in Transplant Infectious Diseases at UPMC, one of the nation's largest solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplant centers, where he built and directs the hematologic malignancy infectious diseases service. His clinical experience encompasses the diagnosis and management of infections across the full spectrum of immunocompromised care: solid organ transplantation, bone marrow/stem cell transplantation, CAR-T cell therapy, and leukemia/lymphoma treatment. He has trained and supervised infectious disease and transplant ID fellows for nearly a decade as a former fellowship program director, and continues to attend on inpatient and outpatient services managing complex, high-acuity cases involving donor-derived infection, invasive fungal disease, antimicrobial-resistant organisms, and viral reactivation.
