Qualifications:
I am a UK-trained physician. I am consultant in public health medicine, and a medical epidemiologist. I am a past examiner and current Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of London (FFPHM). I am a Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM), London.
I was for ten years (2008-2017) Editor-in-Chief of the open-access scientific journal Human Parasitic Diseases, and Visiting Fellow at the Effective Healthcare Consortium, Liverpool University. I am an officer of the International Society of Travel Medicine, and a founder member of the British Travel Health Association.
In March 2023 I was appointed as independent scientific adviser to the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry.
In October 2024 I was appointed as independent epidemiology adviser to the Scottish Hospitals Inquiry.
