He is a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of California. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Stanford University as a scholarship athlete in 1989, and he received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College on an academic scholarship in 1993 graduating in the top 15% of his class. From 1993 to 1996 he attended the Stanford Emergency Medicine Residency program.
He was Board Certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine in 1998 and is currently Board Certified. He is a standing member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and has been so since 1993. For the past 3 years, he has been recognized by his county medical society as a Physician of Excellence. Since 1996 he has been a practicing Emergency Room physician at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, a regional pediatric, adult care, and trauma care center, in Mission Viejo, California providing full-time emergency medical services to patients brought to Mission Hospital. In 1998 he became a partner in Mission Viejo Emergency Medicine Associates, the emergency room group that maintains the contract at Mission Hospital. From 1998 to 2019 he has been the Director of the Quality Assurance & Quality Improvement program for the Emergency Physician group at Mission Hospital. In his capacity as Quality Assurance Director he has personally reviewed thousands of medical cases and has overseen the review of thousands of cases focusing on standard of care issues with an eye towards quality improvement and for reducing medical-legal pitfalls. He is also a Base Station Physician for Mission Regional Trauma Center.From 2009-2019 he was selected to be a member of the Mission Hospital Peer Review Committee and continues to be on that committee. In that capacity he was one of twelve physicians selected to review all medical and surgical quality management issues and cases hospital wide. In his capacity as a member of the Peer Review Committee he reviews medical records to assess whether the standard of case care has been met in particular circumstances and to determine how physicians at Mission Hospital can better provide exceptional care to its patients. Thus, having reviewed thousands of cases, he is intimately familiar with principles related to the standard of care required of Emergency Medical Personnel in the community.
