Mr Luck provides expert opinion across a broad range of ophthalmic surgery matters. His particular areas of expertise include corneal and external eye disease, cataract surgery and associated complications, paediatric ophthalmology (including birth injury and non-accidental injury), and refractive surgery, including laser vision correction procedures such as LASIK and PRK. He offers medico-legal reporting services with an average turnaround time of approximately four weeks from receipt of instructions.

Qualifications:
Mr Luck holds the qualifications MB ChB, FRCS, FRCOphth, and MEWI. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and has obtained the Cardiff University Law School Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate. He undertakes regular continuing professional development (CPD) in medico-legal matters. He is a member of the Expert Witness Institute and is included on the General Medical Council’s panel of registered expert witnesses for Fitness to Practise and related proceedings. He is fully GDPR compliant and registered as a Data Controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Experience:
Mr Luck has been actively engaged in medico-legal and clinical negligence work throughout the majority of his consultant career, commencing in 1995. He has extensive experience in preparing expert reports and currently produces approximately two reports per month. His report distribution is approximately 90% claimant, 8% defendant, and 2% joint instructions. He has provided expert evidence in court on multiple occasions, including attending trial three times, one of which was in the Crown Court, and has experience of giving oral evidence under cross-examination.
