Occupational Safety and Health
As a Gas Safe Registered expert, I specialize in LPG and oil services, covering a wide range of domestic and commercial systems. My work includes investigating boiler flue failures, reconstructing flue pipe issues, and examining flue discharges that cross property boundaries. I also handle cases involving gas appliance spillages, particularly those resulting in carbon monoxide poisoning or fatalities, stemming from natural gas (NG) or LPG-burning appliances. My expertise extends to gas pipe leaks, explosions, and methane poisoning, often assisting with criminal investigations. Additionally, I assess alleged failures by contractors performing annual planned maintenance on gas appliances and investigate fires involving AGA oil, LPG, and natural gas appliances, including incidents leading to personal injuries or fatalities.

I conduct in-depth investigations into accidents during the installation of plasticized gas mains, including failures during pressure testing. My work also involves evaluating fire damage, property damage, and injuries caused by faulty boilers and maintenance work performed by Gas Safe fitters and plumbers. For workplace-related incidents, I am frequently instructed as an expert in Health and Safety Executive (HSE) prosecutions, including cases of employees injured by machines, hand-held devices, or during maintenance operations.

Building Services Engineering (MEP)
In the field of building services engineering, I assist with plumbing and heating disputes, resolving conflicts between customers and contractors over services and financial agreements. I investigate underfloor heating systems for performance issues and leaks, which often result in property damage or personal injury. My expertise includes identifying failures in water, soil, waste, and heating systems, particularly in high-profile properties across the UK. I also specialize in resolving blocked drains in commercial kitchens caused by cooking oils and fats, assisting with disputes between landlords and tenants over drain responsibility and waste management practices.

I routinely investigate failures in planned preventative maintenance across commercial, domestic, and industrial properties. Personal injury cases are another key focus, where I evaluate scalding, burns, and other injuries resulting from faulty systems, such as hot water systems or exposed radiators. For disabled individuals, I investigate injuries caused by improperly installed or maintained sanitary fittings. I also assess freezing of piped systems and related failures, as well as issues with hydraulic surges, water hammer, and failed fire sprinkler systems in commercial and industrial settings.

Water Engineering and Environmental Management
My expertise in water engineering and environmental management covers underground drainage and flooding issues, including surcharging sewers and surface water runoff from adjoining properties. I investigate groundwater intrusion into buildings caused by poor construction, elevated water levels, or insufficient flood management systems. These assessments extend to property damage caused by sewer surcharges or collapsing structures due to washouts. I also evaluate complaints about emissions of sewer gases, which can lead to personal injury by inhalation, and investigate waste water treatment systems that fail to function or cause flooding.

My work includes analyzing hydrogen sulfide emissions from treatment systems and septic tanks. I frequently oversee CCTV investigations into underground piping failures, such as grease blockages in commercial kitchens, and assess waterlogged fields or runoff issues. Additionally, I investigate drainage plant failures for hotels, commercial properties, and housing estates. Disputes over plumbing, drainage, and heating installations that fail to meet contractual expectations also fall within my remit, including cases involving fatalities at water utility pumping stations.

Comprehensive Expert Witness Services
I provide a complete expert witness service, offering forensic engineering consultancy to the legal profession. My work spans the investigation of fires, personal injuries, gas-related incidents, drainage failures, and building services disputes. I am frequently instructed as an expert in defense cases for HSE prosecutions, as well as in private litigation involving regulatory compliance, personal injuries, and contractual disagreements. My extensive experience ensures a thorough and reliable approach to all cases, tailored to the specific needs of clients and the legal process.
