01/27/2025 - UK: Drugs Expert Witness Establishes Humberside Man Cultivated Approximately £117,616 Worth of Cannabis

On Thursday, January 2, Adam Cooledge, a 39-year-old resident of Crowle Drive, Grimsby, was sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court. He had entered a guilty plea to conspiring to produce cannabis, and being involved in the supply of diamorphine and approximately £940 worth of cocaine. A drugs expert witness was crucial in valuing the drugs.

The investigation was launched after officers seized two mobile phones that belonged to Cooledge. Analysis of the data on the phones revealed the structure of an organised crime group, police said. The group used an encrypted messaging service called Signal to run the drugs network, with Cooledge identified as the principal drugs member. A number of messages on the phones related to the cultivation of cannabis and resulted in the identification of two of Cooledge's associates, who were using a property on Columbus Way.

Cooledge's drugs network in Grmsby has been brought to a halt, thanks to an investigation by the Kinetic Intervention Team. Detective Constable Jane Hardie, leading the case, describes the work as "lengthy and highly complex." Stopping Cooledge has prevented significant quantities of drugs from being sold on the area’s streets.

The vast quantity of phone data, along with forensic and operational searches, was scoured to put together a prosecution case in this investigation. Officers waded through a huge amount of phone data to find evidence for this case. Cooledge was seen as a pure businessman in this operation, in which he had no qualms about selling drugs to people.

The Kinetic Intervention Team is part of the Serious Organised Crime (SOC) team and is the reactive arm of the police used to support commands, teams, and partners throughout the force and across borders in dealing with serious crime.

The targeting of organised crime, the drugs trade and high-harm offenders ensures that these police resources are focused where they are needed most.

The personnel of the team consists of very highly trained cadre officers with a specialized skill set, including method of entry, Taser, Police Support Unit (PSU), and search officers who are licensed to conduct searches. Their daily activities include warrant execution, suspect balling up and finding, and searching for the kinds of things that might not want to be found in a very recently vacated space, in a very recently vacated vehicle, or in a very recently vacated premises. And even if the locale has been vacated for some time, they and the searching officers they coordinate will find those who are not playing hide and seek in an evidence sort of way.

Earlier this week, Humberside Police issued a statement regarding a recent court case. The statement read as follows: "The force said assets seized during the investigation were set to be confiscated under the Proceeds of Crime Act." They went on to inform the public that a 39-year-old man from Grimsby by the name of Adam Cooledge has been sentenced to six years in prison.
