Mr. Underdown advises the claims adjuster about assisting their attorney’s in qualifying the insurance experts used in their litigated files. He indicates that it is best that the expert you select has provided testimony for both plaintiff and defense cases so as to avoid a charge of bias that may occur when using an expert who always testifies for one side. Further, Mr. Underdown indicates that it is generally preferable to limit the scope of expert testimony and to use multiple experts with each one being focused on specific issues.
