Sanford M. Silverman, MD, is in private practice as the medical director and CEO of Comprehensive Pain Medicine, Pompano Beach, Florida. He is board certified in anesthesiology with added qualifications in pain management from the American Board of Anesthesiology and a Diplomat in Pain Medicine from the American Board of Pain Medicine.  He is also certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.  His practice consists of interventional and medical treatment of chronic pain, opioid addiction and currently has an interest in treating complex chronic pain with hyperalgesia.

After receiving his bachelor and master degrees from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, Dr. Silverman earned his medical degree from New York Medical College. He then entered active duty military service with the US Army and completed a transitional internship at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, California, and an anesthesiology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.  He then served as Major, US Army and Chief of the Anesthesia and Operative Service at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas and the director of its pain clinic. He was also Assistant Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, El Paso , Texas.  He currently serves as the Vice-President of Florida Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (FSIPP) and as a member-at-large of the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine (FAPM).

The author of articles and letters in publications such as Anesthesiology, the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, the Canadian Journal of Anesthesiology and Pain Physician, and Pain Physician. Dr. Silverman has also lectured nationally on topics including interventional pain management, opioid management and addiction issues, and in the area of forensic medicine.

Dr. Silverman is a member of the American Pain Society, the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the International Spine Intervention Society, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the Florida Society of Addiction Medicine and the Florida Medical Association.  He is on the board of the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine, the Florida Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and of the Florida Pain Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to the treatment of pain for Florida residents through education, clinical practice and patient advocacy. Dr. Silverman also on the Broward County Task Force for  Prescription Medication Abuse which is devoted to preventing prescription medication abuse, diversion and addiction.

Dr. Silverman offers expert testimony in the medical and interventional treatment of chronic pain. He also offers these services in the area of opioid addiction.
